Priorities

All the dispatchers I supervise are much younger than I. Our priorities are radically different. I've written before about the American attitude of self gratification above all else. Nowhere is this more evident than in the people I supervise. Between incidents they talk about clothes, the lottery, Paris, Brittany, Beyounce, Janet and all and every person in the media of little or no consequence. These things occupy their minds, their time and their lives. None of them read a newspaper, a book, watch a news program or get news from the internet. None of them have any solid or grounded opinion about economics, Iraq, politics or religion. None of them attend church services regularly. None of them donate time or money to charities. None of them understand or care about our troops in harms way. None of them could answer even the most basic questions on a middle school history, math or social studies test. They think "Reality TV" is reality. They are baseless, groundless, selfish and conceited. They are....Americans. God help us all.
